Hi [name] – I'm running a prototype course on collective action in October: 6 online sessions, 90 min each, weekdays Wed 7 – Wed 14 Oct, 15:30–17:00 CEST. It covers why cooperation fails (arms races, commons, free riding), how we cooperate anyway, and how cultural evolution has scaled cooperation up – with an eye on AI, climate and nuclear weapons. €20, refunded if you come to all 6. Subject: Prototype course on collective action – October

Hi [name],

I'm running a small prototype course in October: Intro to Collective Action.

Collective action failure – arms races, overused commons, free riding – sits underneath a lot of our biggest problems, from climate change to AI. The course covers the basic dynamics (prisoner's dilemma, stag hunt, tragedy of the commons), how we manage to cooperate anyway (Ostrom, repeated games, the state), and how cultural evolution has taken cooperation from bands to nations. The last sessions ask what the jump to planetary cooperation would take.

  • 6 sessions of 90 min, online
  • Weekdays, Wed 7 – Wed 14 Oct 2026, 15:30–17:00 CEST
  • €20, refunded if you attend all 6
  • No prior game theory needed

It's a prototype, so the material will be developed as we go and feedback is very welcome.
